Living Organically, Laughing Hard, Loving Fiercely

It’s Chicken Season!

Today is our second chick day of the season, and by happy accident we ended up with double the chicks we had planned for. This means that we can take many more reservations than usual for our mid-July batch of chicken!

Our chickens arrive here at the farm as day-old chicks and are given certified organic feed from the beginning. They are indoors until they have enough feathers to be moved outside, after which time the chicks grow rapidly on the bugs and plants they forage. Their forage diet continues to be supplemented with certified organic feed.

When you purchase one of our chickens, you’re getting a bird that was lovingly hand-raised by our family, was raised without medications or artificial growth hormones, lived under the sun and stars in a species-appropriate environment, and was treated with respect from start to finish. Customers are welcome to visit the farm to see how and where the chickens are raised, to meet our family, and to learn more about our growing practices. This is what makes the difference between knowing your farmer and shopping at the grocery store!

Our meat chickens and egg-laying hens intermingle in our free-range setup. They are free to eat all the bugs and plants their hearts desire.

Our chickens finish out at roughly 4.5-5.5lbs. We sell whole birds, ready to freeze or cook and enjoy, for $5.50/lb. If you would like to reserve a chicken or ten, please email us to make arrangements. Reservations are done on a first come, first served basis. We will have chicken available every few weeks until October, so you have the option of purchasing one or several over the course of the season and enjoying them fresh, or filling your freezer to have chicken throughout the winter.
